Flying a Plane for Beginners
Share
Ever wondered what it's actually like to take the controls of a real aircraft? Flying a plane as a beginner sounds intimidating — but it's a lot more accessible than you'd think.
No experience required
The most important thing first: for a flight with piloting included at Cloud Adventures, you don't need a pilot's licence or any prior experience. You sit next to an EASA-licensed pilot who takes over control whenever needed — takeoff and landing are always handled by them.
What "piloting included" actually means
During level flight, you take the controls and, under the pilot's supervision, try basic manoeuvres — holding altitude, gentle turns, maybe a light climb or descent. The pilot talks you through what you're doing and why, so you leave with more than a memory — you leave understanding how the aircraft actually works.
Which aircraft to pick as a beginner
Stable, easy-to-handle planes like the Cessna F172N or Piper 28A Cruiser are ideal for a first taste of flying — predictable and forgiving of small mistakes. If you want something livelier, the Aerospol WT-9 Dynamic or Viper SD4 respond faster to input for a sharper experience.
How to feel before your first flight
Nerves before a first flight are completely normal — and they fade fast. The pre-flight briefing covers everything you need, and the pilot is right there with you the whole time. Most of our clients say the same thing after landing: it was easier than they expected, and they want to do it again.
Is it safe?
Yes. The pilot has full control of the aircraft at all times and takes over instantly whenever the situation calls for it. Aircraft are maintained to strict EASA standards, and every flight follows the same safety standards as commercial aviation.
Who it's for
Flying a plane makes a great gift for anyone who's ever dreamed of it — from teenagers (with a guardian) to retirees finally checking off a lifelong wish. It's not about age or fitness, it's about wanting to try something new.
